Course Description
The Foundation module sets the stage for ERP success by defining Phase Zero—the essential preparation phase that most companies overlook. Think of this as the construction planning phase before building begins: you wouldn’t pour concrete or install wiring without a blueprint, a crew, and city permits. Yet in ERP, many organizations rush to “go live” without ever checking whether they’re ready internally.
This module includes 5 short videos and 3 practical template assets that help you assess internal readiness, map ownership of key resources, establish baseline governance, and identify the gaps that must be closed before ERP work begins.
By the end, you’ll have a structured readiness baseline—the CFO’s equivalent of building permits and blueprints—that ensures your ERP investment is grounded, compliant, and built to scale.
Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Identify the purpose of Phase Zero in an ERP initiative and recognize the risks associated with skipping pre-implementation activities, including the “timeline lie.”
- Recognize the components of a Policy & Procedure Tracker and assess how it is used to inventory process documentation, assign ownership, and identify baseline gaps.
- Differentiate between effective and ineffective Internal Resource Overviews based on defined roles, resource availability, experience levels, and executive sponsorship requirements.
- Identify key ERP master data domains and evaluate master data readiness by assessing sources of truth, data completeness, data quality, and executive ownership.
- Evaluate Phase Zero execution approaches by distinguishing between effective and ineffective task sequencing, use of standard templates, and fast-track execution models.
